Beauty: My Flawless Foundation Routine

beauty

flawless foundation routine

Hey lovelies,
Over the past few weeks I've found the foundation routine that has my heart for the moment.
I figured since I'm loving all the products I'd share them with you along with the how I've been applying my base makeup!
Let us get to it, shall we?

The first product I put on my face is, once again, a simple find from the dollar general!
I scoop out about a dime sized amount and apply it all over my face.
This moisturizer is thick enough that it even acts a little bit as a primer to hold my foundation throughout the day.

After the moisturizer drys I dampen my real techniques blending sponge, which I hauled in a beauty post linked HERE, and apply my L'oreal infallible pro-matte foundation in dots arounds my face. The sponge is the tool that makes all of the difference! With the flat edge of my dampened blending sponge I stipple the foundation on my face blending lightly where necessary to create an airbrushed finish.
For any spots that need extra concealing I go back in with a small amount of foundation and the apply with the pointed end of the sponge.

When my foundation is blended in seamlessly I take the the flat edge of the real techniques sponge and place this elf High Definition Powder under my eyes and on my T-zone. Don't blend this out yet! I let the powder sit on my face for a minute or two "baking" my face, and then lightly dust away the excess powder. This process seems to make imperfections such as pores and fine lines disappear leaving you with flawless looking skin! Definitely a key step in my routine.

The final step in my foundation routine is to contour and highlight. This product I mentioned in my first beauty haul, linked HERE. First I apply the contour right below my cheekbones and blend it back into my hairline. I also use a small amount to bronze the temples of my forehead, and to contour right underneath my chin. The highlighter is really subtle, so I apply it to the tops of my cheekbones for a hint light, and also under my contour line to make sure I have a seamless blend.

Hopefully you found a few new products to test out, and a routine that will leave you looking perfect!
Let me know in the comments what your go-to products are for your everyday makeup routine, or if you have seen any products you would like me to test out and review.
Thanks for taking peek at my foundation routine!

Beauty: Neutral Smokey Eye

beauty

Neutral Smokey Eye

 Hi, makeup lovers!
Today, as I promised long ago, I will be showing you all how to achieve my go to neutral smokey eye look!
I'm going to give you all step by step instructions so it should ultimately be fool proof to recreate.
As a disclaimer, I am by no means a make-up artist, but since this look was requested I wanted to deliver. Make-up is such a great way to express yourself so take my steps as you will and add in whatever you feel necessary to make the look more you!
Let's get on into it!

Step 1

Apply a small amount of primer all over the eye lids. This will give you a blank slate to apply eyeshadow and provide the shadows with a greater staying power.

Step 2

With a flat shader brush apply a cream color on top of the eyeshadow primer.

Step 3

With a round fluffy brush apply a matte brown shadow to the crease of your eye. This will act as the transition shade for the rest of the look.

Step 4

With the same flat shader brush as used previously, pack on a shimmery brown all over the entire lid

Step 5

Take a deep purple-brown color with an eyeliner brush and a small amount to the outer corner of your eye up into the outer corner of your crease.

Step 6

Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara.

Step 7

Use a concealer to clean up any mistakes or fallout from the shimmery shadows.

The final look

Check back soon,
Paige (:

Beauty: Haul #2

beauty

Haul #2

Hey beauties, I'm back today with another beauty haul for you!
I started to realize recently that my foundation was oxidizing on my face throughout the day and really wasn't the best match to my skin tone in the first place, so new foundation, powder, and an applicator was a must. I had also been realizing that the e.l.f mascara I had been using on a day to day basis was not actually staying on my eyelashes throughout the day, so a new mascara was definitely a necessity! I managed to pick up a few more things on my trip to the drugstore, so I thought I would share them with you!
We'll go about this post in the order I would put these products on my face, so keep reading if you want to know about the new beauty products I purchased!

FACE:

The first stop on my beauty supply shopping trip was to get a new foundation. Like I mentioned earlier, my previous foundation hadn't been cutting it for me lately, so I started looking into drugstore foundations. The one foundation that kept coming up was the L'oreal Infallible pro matte and let me tell you it is heaven sent! I have never in my life had a foundation that matched my skin so well, and the finish is fabulous! All you pale girls go ahead and check it out if you're having a hard time color matching your skin tone with other foundations!

The next item that was on my shopping list was a "beauty blender" of course this is the real techniques version (which is much cheaper). I was in the market for a new makeup sponge because i love the airbrushed finish it can give your skin rather than the finish a normal makeup brush would provide. The shape of this sponge is perfect. There is a flat sloped edge that is perfect for blending foundation over the whole face, and a pointed tip that is great for blending around the eye area or even for covering up spots!

This eye lips and face High Definition Powder was kind of a spur of the moment purchase, but while perusing the makeup section I remembered that I hit pan on my favorite setting powder and thought I would try out a new one. This sheer powder claims to erase fine lines for a more airbrushed finish. I've only used the product twice and haven't noticed any miracle outcomes, but the product does the trick as a setting powder so I have no complaints.

EYES:

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post my previous mascara was lacking in doing any sort of job for me so I decided to go for a new one. This product is WONDERFUL! Even without curling my lashed before putting this mascara on it works so well! The shape and hold it gives to my lashes is out of this world. The size of the wand is perfect for adding volume to your lashes and the curved shape of the wand allows you to get every lash and makes for a brilliant lift! This is a mascara I will definitely be repurchasing and one I highly recommend!

LIPS:

When I go shopping for beauty products I always have to have a stroll around the lipsticks because I adore lip products. I'm always looking for long-lasting lip products in a variety of colors and finishes and the Posh lipstick by e.l.f caught my eye on this particular trip. I tend to usually go for a vampy color and the berry tone of this lipstick drew me in straight away. This is an easy to wear berry color with rather a long-lasting power, but make sure you carry around a chapstick with you or apply a coat after the lipstick because it did dry my lips out just a smidgen. Overall though, I loved this lip product!

Thanks for sticking around to see what I purchased, loves.

Beauty: Make-up Haul

beauty

Make-up Haul

Hi friends, so today we are adding a new section to the blog:
 BEAUTY!
I'm going to try and have a beauty related post every now and again talking about my favorite beauty products, new beauty items I've purchased, and maybe even a few step by step tutorials on make-up and hair looks.
I hope you all enjoy it, and as always let me know if you have anything specific you want me to cover (:
Now let's get into the haul!

All of the recent products I have picked up came from two very simple places:
 Walmart and Dollar General
I understand that you probably want to stop reading now because I just announced that I bought make-up from the dollar store, but just hang in there for a second and I'll tell you why it actually works!

EYES

These two marvelous babyPOP! eye shadows by L.A COLOUR are the beauties I purchased at Dollar General and let me just tell you...GIRL!!!! These shadows are bomb, and at the price of 2 for $1 you really can't beat it. To my surprise the pigment is super rich and the color stays put on my eyelids most of the day! These babies are definitely a score!

LIPS

After my purchase of these three lip products I think I have found my signature lip! These three were purchased at Walmart, once again an easy and cheap find! I'm loving the elf Matte Lip Color in Praline and the Revlon Lustrous Lipstick in Mink, and when paired on top of each other it gives me life. The elf Lip Stain, however,  isn't quite cutting it for me. While the other products stay on my lips all day and hold a vibrant color the elf lip stain tends to wear off in a dry and flakey manner and trust me ladies, it ain't cute! If you're looking for a wonderful fall lip you can't beat the price and color of the elf Matte Lip Color in Praline!

FACE

FOREVER, PEOPLE! That's how long I've been looking for a drugstore contour that doesn't make me look the shade of the pumpkin. Well folks, here it is, I have found the holy grail drugstore contour and highlight for my pale face! I'm happy to present you all with the wet n wild contouring pallet in the shade 749A Dulce De Leche. I simply can't get enough of this product! The highlight adds just a touch of light to your face, and the contour is a brilliant grayish-brown shade that works perfectly for a lighter complexion. I'll even let you in on a little secret...the contour shade is just perfect for the one-color eye shadow look!

That's all I have for today, lovelies.
Check back soon because I plan on cranking out the blog posts over my Christmas Break.
Stay Tuned,
Paige
