TENNESSEE PHOTO DIARY

the mile walk

I bought these rad joggers from the Rue 21 sale rack while I was up here. They're super comfy (:

Caleb and I went on a cute little mile long walk around a small nature area where part of the civil war occurred. Ironically it was such a peaceful place to be.

antique shop stop

This adorable shop was set up in booths and each booth was owned by a different vendor. They were all filled with the cutest antiques and refurbished vintage items. I can't wait to have a place of my own one day to decorate with furniture like this.
This was in one of the booths and I fell in love with the way the books were displayed with odds and ends like the radio and the animals. There was a book that was labeled 383 ways to entertain a child. I found it amusing.

downtown nashville  1st

This was the view behind Caleb and I when we were sitting down by the river. I loved how raw all the buildings looked.

We happened along this huge record store called Lawrence Record Shop while we were walking the streets of downtown Nashville. It was impossible to go through everything because there was so much.

The last stop we made in downtown was to grab a little grub for lunch. The struggle for us was finding some where that wasn't packed to the gills with people and some where that had food that wasn't going to cost me Caleb an arm and a leg. We stumbled on this gem called Paradise Park.  Neither of us were too hungry so we settled for something called the lil' chick. It's like two little fried chicken sandwiches with mayo and pickles. DELICIOUS, and all for only about $5.50. All of the employees were sweet as pie too, so I most definitely would recommend this dive.

Even though it was really hot and sticky the whole week I'd say we had a good trip. I really liked getting to take some simple pictures so you guys could experience it as well, so stayed tuned for a photo diary of my trip to Colorado that is coming up in August. (:

Adios,
Paige

Cute friends

Hi people, like I said in my Travel Post I spent the week in Tennessee and got to see some of my favorite humans!! I adore their care-free fashion and asked if i could snap some pictures of them for my blog. They were super excited to do it for me, so this post is all thanks to Rachel and Emma. You guys are the best!
I'm going to link where to get their looks at the end of this post so check that out! Rachel's dress is still available, but Emma's isn't so I'm going to link a dress that is in the same style and color family.

Stay tuned for more,
Paige

Everyday: Why I journal

everyday

why i journal

Hey guys, I'm not really having the best day today and I realized that in my Mental Health post I didn't talk about journaling. Journaling is another huge part of what keeps me half way sane when my breakdowns occur. So there it is, part of the answer. I journal to keep myself sane.
Journaling allows me to just spit out whatever thoughts are in my head, and honestly sometimes I don't even realize what I'm feeling until I journal. It's so freeing. You can word vomit all over a little page full of lines and then it's gone. Everything in that moment is on the page of the journal and you don't have to worry about it being stuck in your head.
You're free. The thoughts are gone. DON'T KEEP THINKING THEM.
Ha, easy to say...not so easy to do. However, it is a step in the right direction to even pick up a pen and a sheet of paper and scribble your emotions on it. Even if the thoughts don't go away it's therapeutic to write and get out everything that you are feeling.
I'm sorry this isn't a happy post, and I'm sorry I'm not giving you pictures to look at but I just needed to let out how I feel. Tomorrow I'm going to try and upload a little photo diary of my time here in Tennessee. I hope that goes well.

Keep pushing,
Paige

Here it is homies, another get the look post. I want to start by saying these are a tad hard for me to do because I shop mostly at goodwill. But they are one of my favorites to create. With that being said, I am trying my best to find similar pieces for you guys so you can recreate my outfit in a similar way for yourselves.
I'd also like to give credit to my love for these wonderful pictures he took of me. He was featured in my post Picnic 101

Travel: What to Wear

what to wear

travel time

Alright kids, here is the deal.
I leave today to go on a mission trip to Tennessee, but first I have to go to church. I needed to find an outfit that was dressed up enough for church but still comfy and casual enough to wear on our road trip. Rompers are definitely the best choice for me. They are effortless and still look put together. This tie dye one I bought off of a website where people can buy and sell clothes through each other. It's kind of like an online yard sale. I don't remember exactly what website this one was purchased off of, but this link will show you an article on the top 5 online consignment stores. I'm sure you'll be able to find something travel worthy on one of the sites. I picked out some of my old canvas Toms to wear because they are easy to slip on and off, and a baseball cap is a quick way to hide my messy travel hair. Remember to stay comfy and don't compromise you're style just for travel.

Stay true to you,
Paige

Fashion: What would I wear?

what would i wear

Festival Dreams

outfit details:
Tunic top: Goodwill
Shorts: Ralph Lauren
Boots: Vintage store
Socks: Boy friends dresser
Sunnies: Goodwill
Rings: Mom's old wedding ring; gift
Sun hat: Dad's closet

This outfit was ultimately inspired by my dreams of going to a music festival. I wanted to keep the look simple and comfortable while still throwing off that festival vibe. I went for an oversized tunic with a lace detailing around the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt. The shorts are Ralph Lauren and also have a really relaxed fit. I stuck with earth tones to keep the look quite muted, so I chose a pair of olive green socks to compliment my vintage cut-out boots. If you're going to a music festival i would suggest close toe shoes so all the dirt doesn't get in-between your toes and all over your feet. That's never pleasant. Sun hats are a great way to keep you cool from the sun at festivals, and also adds a little personality to your outfit. I added a little interest to my outfit with my circle sunnies from Goodwill and decided to go for two simple rings on my index fingers. Remember the key to a good outfit is putting your personality in it, so just go for it!

Have fun,
Paige

Everyday: Picnic 101

everyday

Picnic 101

Meet my wonderful model for the day-aka, my boyfriend- Caleb. We've been wanting to go on a picnic for sometime now but hadn't gotten around to it because we didn't have a proper picnic basket. The other day we got lucky and stumbled upon the on you see in the picture, and today we tried it out! I'm going to share some of my tips and tricks that will hopefully make your picnicking experience just as wonderful as ours was!

TIP 1:
-Find yourself a good picnic basket-

This may seem like something that doesn't matter much, but trust me, it make ALL the difference. It was so easy for Caleb and I to get everything ready, fill the basket, and walk with it to our spot. We got lucky enough to find this basket at the Blu Butterfly in downtown Easley, SC. It even came with a blanket, cloth napkins, silver wear, cups, and plates. Everything was made so simple and it was all adorable (Their Info will be at the end). Getting a good picnic basket will make your whole experience that much easier and definitely cuter.

TIP 2:
-Make do with what you have-

Silly me didn't think to check the kitchen last night to make sure I had everything ready to go for our picnic today so I had to be flexible. I thought I had a small Tupperware bowl that I could scoop some mayonnaise in to take for our sandwiches, but when I went to grab it this morning the container wasn't there. I found an empty jar and thought i might be able to use that, but-just my luck-no lid. So my second thought was plastic wrap, but we all know how this goes, there was none of that either. So i settled for sealing the jar of mayonnaise with a coffee filter and a rubber band. Hey, it worked!

  TIP 3:
-Share a dish-

I was always told sharing is caring, so why not keep that moral going. Not only is it a nice thing to do, but sharing a dish with a special somebody can be sweet and romantic too. It is also fun to giggle with each other while fighting over who gets the bite of salad with all the bacon bits. I know, we're so healthy. (;

TIP 4:
-Make sure to bring an extra bag-

Luckily when we bought our magnificent picnic basket it came with the blanket and cloth napkins in a cloth bag,  but if you don't have a cloth bag don't worry. Just make sure you bring a plastic or reusable grocery bag. The reason behind this is because there most likely will be spills. Things might get messy; roll with it. As soon as we got set up today caleb spilled his drink all over the front conner of the blanket. There was no reason to worry though because when we were done eating we could just toss the dirty blanket and dirty napkins in the extra bag and wash everything when we got home. No fuss. Simple as that.

Hopefully you learned something from my tips, or even just some inspiration to go out and picnic. Huge thank you to Blu Butterfly for carrying awesome merchandise and allowing me to make this picnic possible. Remember, being outside is good for your health, so get out there and enjoy some sun!

Happy Picnicking,
Paige

I had been excited about shooting these pictures for you guys since the idea and the help -help being my photographer, Austin- struck me last night. Health: MENTAL HEALTH

Mental Health
For me mental health is a huge part, and really the beginning to, my overall well being. Mental health is something that I struggle with and something I think everybody has at least been exposed to it. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and I will get into that more maybe if anybody asks me to. I really just want to be able to bring it to peoples attention that it is real and I want to be able to help people that are struggling as well. When it comes to my depression a lot of the time my breakdowns will just happen out of no where or because of something small. You can't always know when it's coming and that is one of the worst parts of it. You feel so out of control. My depression is the biggest reason I didn't blog over the weekend. I haven't been able to do much to help keep it at bay, but I am trying some things and thought I would share them with you.

Fighting Depression and Anxiety
Like I said, recently I've been struggling a lot with my depression and today my anxiety has been acting a little funny, so I thought i would share some of what I've been doing to help a little. The first thing that has helped is keeping my environment clean. Even if the rest of the house isn't in the best shape as long as my room is clean then I have a space I can go to to calm down and not feel overwhelmed. With that being said, alone time has also helped. I never would have thought this because I always feel like if I'm trying to be happy with people I will feel better, but in all reality sometimes you just need a break. The best tip I have to help with calming down is to take a bath and allowing for quiet time. I can't even explain what it does. Give yourself an evening or day of pampering and relaxation and you'll be sure to feel better. There are even some DIY recipes for bath bombs on youtube. I'll link one of my favorite youtube videos showing a great Pamper Routine
If you have any questions leave them down below or if you just want to talk leave a comment and I will definitely reply! If i get enough questions I might film a question and answer video/tips and trick for fighting depression and anxiety.

With all good wishes,
Paige

Health: FITNESS

And this is what I'm here for. Fitness isn't my strong point. Heck, it might not even be one of my points at all, but the key is that I want it to be one of my points. I am by no where good at being consistent with my fitness, but my dad has been helping me get back to it. He generously gave me the most beautiful bike for my birthday and that is where I want my exercise to start. Bike rides are so easy to enjoy and half the time you don't realize you're working out until the next morning. That's when your legs feel it. TRUST ME!
The only other thing I do for my personal exercise is yoga. Once again, I'm not the most consistent person with my fitness, but yoga is my absolute favorite. Hopefully I'll get a good job soon and have enough money to actually start a class. Until then however, I will continue to watch videos on youtube and do yoga on my own. It works just as well. Yoga has so many other positives besides the obvious one of getting healthy. Mental clarity is the biggest bonus for me because I can never shut my mind off, and yoga offers me just that.
"Make it a lifestyle, not a duty."
In the long run I just want to be able to put fitness in my weekly schedule. I don't want to think of fitness and exercise as a chore, but rather something I want to do to help myself. Getting exercise is one small key to my happiness.

Over and out,
Paige

Health: FOOD

Health
When the word lifestyle is mentioned people usually think about health, so that is where I have decided to start. Health isn't something that I'm by any means good at, but it is definitely something I have been wanting to work on. Today I want to focus on the food part of health and share a little of what I eat and how I want to improve what I am eating.

Breakfast
As soon as I wake up I usually just feel nauseous so I'm not up to eating a ton of food. Naked smoothies are the best option! They always fill me up, at least for a while, and they are something easy for me to get down. The smoothie I drank this morning was called red machine and it was so delicious; one of my favorites for sure.

Snack
I got a little bit hungry around 4:00 and thought eating something small would be good since i had a small breakfast. I'm usually much hungrier in the evening. Instead of going for some candy or something sweet like i would normally I chose to make a wrap. The wrap was so tasty even though it didn't have any veggies. I loaded a tortilla with cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and some sliced smoked ham, and then popped it in the microwave for 45 seconds. It was honestly the best snack I've had in a while.

My healthy food plans
If there is one thing that I think I should change about my eating it is my eating schedule. I need to get back to eating three meals a day and around the same time every day. Obviously it would be nice to be able to eat healthier to, but I think I'll have to work on that when I move out. Which I'm working on; we'll talk about that later. Overall I just need to get on track with my eating and stay persistent. Eating better will lead to overall better health mentally and physically.

Wishing you health and happiness,
Paige

Lifestyle

Essentially a persons lifestyle is everything from how you wake up, fall asleep, and everything you do in between. Lifestyle has a lot to do not only with what happens in the world around us, but what happens within us. The things you put in your life and the things that you give out to the world help define your specific lifestyle. I'm here, on a quest to locate anything that may help me come closer to defining my lifestyle. I want to try new things and make my life what I want it to be. It's time for me to be happy and locating MY lifestyle is a great place to start. So after all that is said; Welcome to my journey of locating lifestyle through my surroundings, photography, and maybe even some food. I'm not promising a smooth ride, but it should be interesting. Hopefully.

Gotta boogie,
Paige
